Our students love putting together a hundred board (or 250 board!) alone, or with a friend. We rarely need to rotate this work because it is always sought out throughout the year. We like this one from Treasures from Jennifer, but there are al kinds!
Another great piece of work is the famous box of sticks. This work sometimes needs monitored closely- as pins can sometimes end up on the floor and ouch! You can use this work with a multitude of geometry lessons (shapes, lines, etc.) so it is a great resource to have for the shelf and your lessons!
Colorku is a very fun and challenging game for the students in the classroom. Instead of Sudoku with numbers, this is a color version! Students grasp on very quickly and it's neat to see one teach another, and then they teach the next! It's a very peaceful work to have in the classroom because no talking is involved. Some prefer to do together, and some enjoy the challenge of doing it alone! There are cards with different levels that are included to increase difficulty.
This is a great type of work that can be rotated to fit what the students are studying. We have types of plants, animal parts, outer space, characters- the possibilites are endless. Your students will love this work each time you rotate it! Just make sure you discuss sportsmanship and rules.
Each month I like to focus on a grammar part of speech to introduce it into the classroom. I will rotate a card game to go with that part of speech. Students enjoy engaging with the cards alone or together. This is a perfect way to tie in "extensions" that seem like just a choice work.
Each month you can change your clay invitation in the art lab! We start the year with wooden peg "people" and students make the people come to life with faces and clothing. You can also do section or divided trays with various loose parts.
Sometimes fine motor work is associated with primary classrooms- and you should not stop there! We rotate a fine motor work often. From chop sticks with this rainbow from Mirus Toys, to origami, to needle and thread work.
